Heart Devices - Defibrillator News
Boston Scientific Corporation has agreed to pay $195 million to settle claims arising out of its flawed Guidant defibrillator.
Saunders & Walker represents a number of clients injured by the Guidant defibrillator. Saunders & Walker clients are part of this $195 million settlement. The settlement was announced on the brink of the impending federal trial concerning the heart defibrillator. In the lawsuits, Guidant was charged with hiding from patients a defect in one of its most widely used defibrillators. The device, known as the Ventak Prizm 2 Model 1861, was blamed for at least 7 deaths. The defect concerned faulty insulation. The company first became aware of the problem in 2002 but failed to disclose the issue to doctors until mid-2005.
