State Rep. Gwyn Green, D-Golden has introduced legislation that would remove the statute of limitations for civil lawsuits for children who suffer sexual abuse. Any past victims would have a two-year window, beginning in July, to bring a lawsuit against their abuser or the institution that knowlingly allowed the abuse. Similar legislation was defeated last year after the Catholic Church argued that the legislation unfairly targeted the church. Amendments were proposed that removed the language and the Catholic Church still fought to defeat the bill. This year's bill avoids language that refers to any specific institution.
