July 8, 2015 – The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of Barnett Outdoors, LLC’s Black Widow slingshots. The product is being recalled because the wrist band may slip off causing the body of the slingshot to recoil into the face of the user and cause facial injuries.
The Black Widow slingshot is about 6 in long with black plastic handgrip that has red linear studs on the palm side, a silver metal fork, and a silver metal folding wrist brace.
Barnett has requested users to immediately stop using the product and contact their company for a free replacement wrist strap.
The products were sold from July 2014 to May 2015 for around $10.00 online at Amazon.com and Barnettcrossbows.com and at archery shooting and sporting goods stores nationwide, including the following stores:

Barnett Outdoors, LLC – Crossbow Litigation
Lawsuits have been filed against Barnett Outdoors for injuries caused by a lack of thumb guards on several high-powered crossbow models. The lawsuits claim that Barnett’s negligent design of the crossbows caused users to suffer complete and partial amputations, severe injury, and disfigurement.
Some of the crossbow models named in the lawsuits are the Jackal, Penetrator, Wildcat C5 and the Buck Commander. Barnett Crossbows are marketed in hunting magazines, at sporting goods stores and on the internet.
